Spring Fling
History of Spring Fling
In 1997, nine members of Lakewood Forest Garden Club decided to take a trip to Austin Texas to visit Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. This was the beginning of our spring fling. Recently, more than 30 ladies have participated in this annual event. We traveled by cars at first, then graduated to chartered motor coaches and have returned to traveling by car. We try to visit at least one garden related venue, learn about local culture and history and take in many of the local sites. We also enjoy sampling the local cuisine. This is a great opportunity to get together in a relaxed atmosphere and get better acquainted with fellow garden club members.
